To close out the month of October, we’re reviewing two of the best films of the 1950s, and also trying out a new format for the show! First up is my conversation with Rob Wilkinson on Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s All About Eve, an all-star drama with a record-breaking number of Oscar nominations, and which happens to be a fantastic exploration of the unforgiving theater world. After that, I chat with my Anyway, That’s All I Got cohost Anthony Battaglia about Nicholas Ray’s Rebel Without A Cause, a landmark teen drama featuring an indelible posthumous performance by James Dean, and which is also fantastic!

Sam, I came across Extra Milestone a bit haphazardly; started with hearing about Cinemaholics through a youtube channel and then down the rabbit hole I went until I heard mention of the Shining episode you did some time back. I’ve been obsessed with every episode ever since. I want to particularly point out the truth of the statement in this episode, where you discussed the ways in which cinema is unlike any other art form because of the individual journeys we all take. I’m a film student, so keeping up with these milestones every week has helped me tremendously in building a stronger foundation in my studies, so I sincerely thank you and all the guests so far for being such an essential help in my pursuits. I one day hope I can delve into the world of film analysis to the same professional level as you and the other “Cinemaholics” on this network. Cheers.

So glad you love it 🙂 There’s a reason there are so many cinephiles like us out there. Thanks for listening, and best of luck with your continued studies!

  • Captain Crunch Time says:

God made All About Eve (1950), not All About Steve (2009)

  • Domingo says:

Long time listener, here. I really love the tradition of including almost the entire trailer. Really gets me into the mood of these movies. Also, the host switch format was slick.
