Special guest Matt Serafini joins us this week to review The Super Mario Bros. Movie. For the first time in 30 years, Nintendo is back on the big screen (no, Detective Pikachu doesn’t count). And they’ve even teamed up with Illumination to bring the iconic video game plumber to the big screen, this time as a computer-animated film more faithful to the basic structure of the original games. But also with loads of easter eggs and set pieces that celebrate the Mario video game franchise over the last few decades. Critics have been pretty harsh with the film while general audiences are eating it up like mushrooms. But what in the Super Mario World do the Cinemaholics think? Get ready for one of our nerdiest episodes in a long while.
Our intro music this week is “Super Mario Lofi” by Rifti Beats.
